Microsoft really, really wants you to adopt Windows Vista, despite the fact that they'll stop paying child support in five years (that is, they will end support for the product at that point). Will that work for you?
The new Windows platform offers a number of improvements over Microsoft's previous versions, including increased security and better search capabilities. But is that enough to make you forget Linux or dump Windows 2000 or XP? Is Vista the greatest thing since sliced bread, or is it just a mini-muffin?
We'd like to know. If you will jump on board the Vista bandwagon, why? If not, why not? Share the wealth!

I would not jump on the Vista bandwagon because generally it takes good ol' Microsoft 3 years+ to get bugs out of software, meanwhile the user has to dig up fixes to make software that they currently use functional again and continue to do so with many of Microsoft's subsequent updates and fixes. It seems that Microsoft views new packages as "good enough" to put on the market and then they fix it as they go.

I have thoroughly researched Vista in its various configurations and found that in order for it to run on one of my machines at all, I would have to build a new system starting at the mother board with a newer processor, video card and larger primary hard drive as well as increasing my RAM. All of this for an operating system that is repleat with driver problems, security holes, and other niceties. Now, they say they will limit support to 5 years? So I should spend about $1,000.00 for precisely what?

I currently have Vista installed on 2 machines. Vista Business on an old P4 2.4Ghz and Vista Home Premium on a new Opteron Dual Core. I have had absolutley no issues. Only software issue was Roxio Media Creator for burning DVDs - but then I realized Vista now has DVD burning built-in...so not an issue. Geforce 8800GTS video card runs fine with latest drivers and Directx 10. Woohoo..I'm stoked for the new games to come out!
